Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Child Development

“Child Development helps young people understand how children grow, learn and thrive, and how to support them from birth to adolescence.”

The children’s workforce includes early years practitioners, teaching assistants, nursery nurses, childminders, and family support workers across settings such as nurseries, primary schools, and community services. Roles range from day-to-day care and safeguarding to planning learning experiences and supporting additional needs.

Subject Intent

By the end of the Child Development Tech Award, students will be motivated and equipped to continue to Level 3 study or apprenticeships in Early Years and Education, and to pursue future roles supporting children and families. They will understand how children develop, how to promote safe, inclusive learning, and how to work ethically within professional standards.
