Home Learning

Rationale & Principles

At Oasis Academy Brislington we are working to develop students' ability to work independently and to be successful at anything they apply themselves to in their lives. We know that obtaining good grades at GCSE will open doors in the future for them, and we believe that having regular learning to complete at home eventually improves student outcomes in school. However, we also know that improving grades is not the only way that Home Learning can benefit our students. The Home Learning that students are set in years seven to nine are helping them to develop independence, curiosity, and giving students an opportunity to study and secure knowledge, which will help them to stand as first amongst equals, in their lives, moving forward.

How much and how often is Homework set?

  • Years 7, 8 & 9: Weekly home learning assignments in English, Maths & Science. Fortnightly home learning assignments in all other subjects.
  • Years 10 & 11: Weekly Home Learning for each student, which may be set as separate tasks, or an over-arching project.

What does Homework look like?

If a student has a question or issues logging on to access online learning, please contact the school by email at info@oasisbrislington.org or call 0117 377 2055.

The online learning platforms your child may need to access are:

Non-Completion of Homework

If a student does not complete home learning in a subject, they will be logged for Non-Completion of Home Learning which will appear on your MCAS app. Alongside this, they will be assigned an after school 30 minute Reflection. The purpose of this is to help our students to develop strong learning habits both within and outside of the classroom.
